Nutrition & cooking workshop for community care workers


Do you help elderly clients shop and cook?

The Wholesome Collective are facilitating a half day work shop for community care workers who help elderly clients shop for food and/or prepare meals.  

Come and learn some new skills and gain new knowledge to assist your clients within their homes. Our training workshop involves a combination of theory and practical learning through nutrition and cooking presentations and group discussions.

The following modules will be included:

·       Nutrition 101 – an outline of key nutrients for the elderly

·       Nutrition recommendations for the over 55’s

·       The importance of, and maintaining good hydration

·       Identifying malnutrition and those at risk

·       Tips for managing malnutrition

·       Food safety and safe food handling

·       Cooking presentations to help translate information earnt into practice within a client’s home – with taste testers!

All participants will receive a very comprehensive book of nutrition information and recipes to be used with their clients.

When: October 24th 2018

Time: 9.30am-1.30pm (lunch included as part of tastings)

Where: Bateau Bay Anglican Church – 2 Tyrrell Place, Killarny Vale, NSW 2261

Cost: $95 per participant

Please note that this is not an accredited course, however a certificate of completion will be presented at the end of the workshop.
